# Password

A secure password is essential for logging into Polaris, ensuring that only authorized users can access your account and protecting your data from unauthorized access.

### How do I change my password?

To accomplish this, either select your name in the upper right corner or choose “Navigation” and then click on **MY SETTINGS > Modify my password** from the left-hand menu.

You will need to input your existing password along with your new password (entered twice). Be sure to adhere to the outlined password policy.

> [!NOTE]
> ** NOTE
>
> The new password must contain at least one number (0-9), one uppercase character, and one special character (+*%&()?!$][{}<>\/§£=).

### What to do, if I forgot my password?

If you have forgotten your password, visit the login page and click on the “**I forgot my password**” button at the bottom. Then, enter your email address, and after submitting, you will receive an email to set a new password.

> [!NOTE]
> ** NOTE
>
> Changing the password for Polaris does not affect the password for my.rotary.org, and the same applies in reverse – these are two separate systems with distinct login credentials, even if you use the same email address for both systems.

#### Why do I sometimes have to change my password when logging in?

Users who have the right to **manage member data** in Polaris are required to change their password annually.
